Must Tell the examiner what are you inspecting for as you Demonstrate to examiner the inspection you are performing.
(1) Turn-off the engine, (2)turn key to On-Position Activate gages (truck chucked or in gear to avoid Rolling) (2) Roll-Down your window, (3) Release Truck and Trailer parking Brakes, (4) Depress brake pedal and wait until pressure gages stabilize (5) TELL EXAMINER: I will depress the brake pedal and time it for One Minute I should not loose more than FOUR POUNDS of air pressure in ONE MINUTE , (6) Keep your foot on the brake AT ALL TIMES and start ONE-Minute timer, TELL EXAMINER: One-Minute Timer has started, I am also listening for audible sounds of leak (ear at window), (7) AFTER one-minute ends, TELL EXAMINER: : The minute has ended and I did not loose more than Four-Pounds of air Pressure while pointing at the air-pressure gage, I also did not hear any audible leak
(1) TELL EXAMINER: I will depress the brake pedal repeatedly to cause loos of air pressure, a warning light should come on and a buzzer should sound when the air pressure goes down to about 60 PSI (2) Depress and Release the brake pedal until light and buzzer comes on; (3)TELL EXAMINER: The warning light and Buzzers came on, the low air pressure warning system is working properly
(1) TELL EXAMINER: I will keep depressing the brake pedal repeatedly to cause further loos of air pressure, the parking brakes should deploy automatically when the air pressure goes down to a dangerous level of about 40 to 20 PSI (2) Depress and Release the brake pedal until both parking brake knobs pop-out, (3) TELL EXAMINER: The parking brake has automatically deployed, the emergency brake system is working properly. This conclude the Air Brake Check.
